8:30 a.m. Wednesday — A 10-year-old Butler boy suffered minor injuries when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle while rushing to a school bus stop on Mercer Street.The identified white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tracker, was turning onto Wood Street when it struck Rory Sloan in the waist and chest area, according to a police report.The boy said he also banged a front tooth on the vehicle's hood after he was hit. He said the driver of the SUV stopped and asked if he was OK. The boy replied he was all right.Rory ran to his bus stop and the SUV drove away. Hours later, police were notified of the accident at 12:15 p.m.Tuesday — Gerry Lee Kendall, 28, of Butler was charged with retail theft for allegedly shoplifting a Sony PlayStation Portable at the Kmart store in Pullman Square on Oct. 5.A store security officer said he spotted Kendall taking the $250 item. When the employee tried to stop the suspect outside the store, he ran away but dropped the item.Police reviewed the store's surveillance video to identify Kendall as the suspect, a police report said.
1:54 p.m. Tuesday — Jeffrey Cumberland, 48, of Renfrew was hurt in a three-vehicle accident on Evans City Road. Police said the accident happened when a pickup driven by Steven Cumberland, 53, of West Sunbury struck the back of Jeffrey Cumberland's car.The impact forced the car into the rear of a car driven by Dale Ealy, 74, of Renfrew. Jeffrey Cumberland was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with neck and back injuries.Steven Cumberland was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
2:21 a.m. Wednesday — Tyler J. Drzemiecki, 21, of West Sunbury was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Mercer Road in Center Township.11:06 a.m. Oct. 3 — An unknown burglar stole jewelry and a jewelry box from a Stanton Avenue home in Mars.
2:25 a.m. Wednesday — Two parked vehicles were damaged, one severely in a hit-and-run crash on Route 68 in Rimersburg.The suspected car, an unidentified red Hyundai hatchback, was eastbound on Route 68, also known as Main Street, when it hit the back of another car that was parked on the side of the road. That car, which was badly damaged, was then pushed into the back of a parked pickup truck. The truck sustained minor damage.Police said the unidentified hit-and-run driver did not stop and continued east on Route 68. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 814-226-1710.8:46 p.m. Tuesday — Three people were hurt when cars driven by Teresita P. Belk, 61, of Sligo and a 17-year-old Parker boy collided at Route 68 and McEwen Road in Piney Township.Both drivers and a passenger in the boy's car, a 17-year-old Rimersburg girl, were taken to Clarion Hospital with minor or unknown injuries.Police did not identify the teenagers. Police said Belk was cited for a stop sign violation. The boy was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
