CLINTON TWP — A township manufacturer is expanding.

The township supervisors Tuesday approved II-VI's plan to add 1,410 square feet to the main building and to erect two prefabricated structures.

Supervisor Ed Boyd said the addition will be constructed adjacent to the main entrance.

The two new buildings, which will be 110 square feet and 250 square feet, will replace old structures housing raw materials.

The supervisors also discussed a donation by Westinghouse of 40 trees and 30 shrubs to be planted at Spring Valley Park on Victory Road.

Supervisor Mary Zacherl, board chairwoman, said the United Way of Butler County facilitated the corporate donation.

She asked for volunteers to help plant the trees and shrubs on Oct. 30.

The supervisors also discussed a possible contract with Saxonburg to provide police protection for the township.

Zacherl said a committee comprised of residents living in different areas of the township will review the feasibility of such a contract for 2011. She said the main factor for making a decision will be funding.
