Wednesday — A flagpole with a decorative flag depicting a frog was taken overnight from the front porch of an Eau Claire Street home. The stolen property is valued at $30.12:15 a.m. Tuesday — Eric D. Shever, 26, no known address, is accused of stealing Tina Hetrick's purse from her home on West New Castle Road. The purse contained $340, according to court documents.District Judge Pete Shaffer issued an arrest warrant for Shever on a charge of felony theft.Monday — A wicker chair on a metal frame was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 100 block of First Street. The chair, valued at $100, was taken between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.Sept. 9 — A Tom-Tom global positioning system unit worth $200 was stolen overnight from a car at a home in the 400 block of North Bluff Street.
7:25 p.m. Tuesday — Taquesha Tucker, 20, of Aliquippa, Beaver County, is accused of shoplifting at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Police said after she was caught, she gave officers a bogus name. Tucker is charged with retail theft and false identification to law enforcement authorities.4:25 p.m. Tuesday — An unknown thief snatched a 78-year-old woman's purse from her shopping cart in the parking lot at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. The woman was unloading shopping bags into her vehicle when the theft happened in row 12 near the store's food entrance.The thief drove away in a dark-colored sedan. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.4:10 p.m. Tuesday — Louise Leonard, 47, of Evans City was nabbed allegedly taking merchandise at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Police said Leonard was with a 14-year-old girl at the time. Leonard is charged with retail theft and corruption of minors. The girl also is charged with retail theft.11:02 p.m. Monday — Two women face drug-related charges after one of the suspects was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop on Evans City Road.Officers stopped the car, occupied by Lori Petanovich, 22, and Kelly Bandura, 20, both of Butler, for an equipment violation and discovered Petanovich was wanted on a warrant.Officers searched Petanovich and found her with a baggie of suspected marijuana and rolling papers, according to a police report. A search of the car turned up more marijuana, a suspected drug pipe and additional rolling papers.Petanovich was placed in the Butler County Prison for the warrant. She and Bandura also are charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Bandura was cited for an unspecified traffic violation.2:12 a.m. Saturday — Nicholas Ferrer, 30, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Meridian Road. Police said he also faces drug charges after officers found suspected marijuana in his car.
6:40 a.m. Saturday — Launi M. Volkman, 39, of Evans City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after she ran a stop sign and struck a car at the intersection of Mars-Evans City and Marburger roads in Callery. Volkman and Patricia Ann Zajac, 56, of Prospect, the other driver, suffered undisclosed injuries.4:50 p.m. Sept. 7 — Cars driven by Joseph C. Henricks, 25, and Amy M. Schiebel, 31, both of Butler collided at Route 68 and 38 in Summit Township. Schiebel was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Henricks was cited for failing to yield to another vehicle while turning.Sept. 7 — A blue and silver, BMX model bicycle was stolen from the yard of a Meadowview Lane home in Center Township. The 20-inch NEXT bike was taken between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.
Monday — James Crawford, 37, of Bruin was arrested on a warrant out of Greenville County in South Carolina, only four days after he was picked up and jailed for a warrant in Butler County. Crawford remains in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.4:34 p.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt when pickup trucks driven by Elizabeth Hooks, 63, of Templeton and Lawson Grates, 28, of Slippery Rock collided at Route 268 and Westgate Drive in East Franklin Township. One passenger in each pickup, whom police did not identify, were taken to ACMH Hospital in Kittanning with moderate injuries.
Monday — Jerimiah A. Wheeler, 30, was arrested after police allegedly found child pornography on a computer at his Hunter Road home in Worth Township, Mercer County. He allegedly downloaded the illicit material between May 2008 and March.Wheeler was arraigned on three counts of possessing child pornography, and placed in the Mercer County Jail on $10,000 bail.11:57 a.m. Sept. 6 — A van driven by Shawna R. Mitcheltree, 22, of New Castle struck the rear of a car at North Liberty and East Valcourt roads in Liberty Township. Mitcheltree and the other driver, Thomas S. Odoski, 63, of Duquesne, Allegheny County, suffered minor injuries. Police said Mitcheltree was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
