Colligan 90th birthday

James Colligan

James Colligan of East Brady celebrated his 90th birthday with a party. Friends and family were there to celebrate his birthday and wish him well.

Colligan was born Sept. 6, 1920, in East Brady. He graduated in 1938 from East Brady High School.

He married the former Peggy Irwin on Jan. 26, 1952, at St. Eusebius Catholic Church in East Brady.

He has six children, Christina Gizienski of Saxonburg, James Colligan Jr. of Butler, Joseph Colligan of Van Nuys, Calif., Bruce Colligan of Peoria, Ill., John Colligan of East Brady and Tim Colligan of Sligo.

He also has 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He spent 18 months in the Civilian Conservation Corps and four years in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Colligan retired from Conrail on Dec. 28, 1981, after 40 years of service working for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail.

He is a member of American Legion Post 488 in Bradys Bend, where he was a past member of the Honor Guard.

He and his wife have spent many winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., and hope to go again in the future.

He is a member of St. Eusebius Catholic Church in East Brady.
