Family of children killed in W.Va. crash holds memorial

CRANBERRY TWP — The parents of the two children who died in a vehicle crash Aug. 17 publicly thanked family and friends Sunday for their support.

Mother Carla Aiken, 36, read a poem she had written that brought tears to those who attended a memorial balloon release for Haley Weiland, 6, and Logan Beckwith, 7, who died when their family minivan rolled over on Interstate 79 in West Virginia.

"We miss you and love you. We will always be together," she said.

Jason Beckwith, the father of Logan Beckwith, said, "The community came together for this event to help bring closure to the family and their friends.

"I hope this brings our family closer together and realize that any petty differences pale in comparison to a situation like this."

The event was at Cranberry Village where Aiken and her children had lived.
