8:05 p.m. Wednesday — Carlos M. Torres, 25, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting 21-year-old Erin Torres of Butler during a domestic dispute at a West Penn Street home. The suspect was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

11:45 p.m. Tuesday — A suspected shoplifting crew is accused of leaving the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons with a shopping cart containing two laptop computers valued at nearly $600.But store security was onto the three suspects, all from Indiana County, before their attempted getaway, and alerted police.Moments later, officers arrested the trio — Cory M. Santiago, 22, of Homer City; Cherri Ann Doerr, 22, of Indiana; and Melissa L. Mocek, 20, of Indiana.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned all three suspects on charges of retail theft and conspiracy. Doerr and Mocek also are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.The three defendants were placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail each, following arraignment.
