4:52 p.m. Sunday — A 48-year-old Butler man called police after he and a friend were chased by a large pit bull while walking on East Locust Street near Cecilia Street.The dog stopped after its owner, Christina M. Cloherty, 33, who lives on Cecilia Street, yelled at the dog, which returned to the woman. Cloherty faces a citation for not confining the dog.A police report noted they have received "numerous complaints" about Cloherty's dog during the past year.Sunday — Police reported that 35-year-old Ralph Scott of Butler faces theft charges for allegedly stealing Julia Conner's purse from her South Street home.Conner told police that the purse contained $2,000, a charm bracelet, two wedding bands and several bottles of prescription medication and several credit cards. She suspected the purse was taken June 25.A police report said Conner and Scott are next-door neighbors.Sunday — Police reported Charmaigne D. Tack, 24, of Butler faces theft charges for allegedly stealing George Potter's wallet and prescription medication from his New Castle Street apartment Thursday. Potter said the wallet contained $200 and the medication was worth $300.

4:18 p.m. Wednesday — Madalyn Somple, 21, of Butler is accused of punching, kicking and biting a family member during an altercation at an Aubrey Drive home. Police said Somple is charged with simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

4:30 p.m. Sunday — Two young thieves allegedly stole $100 from a wallet at a man's East Water Street apartment in Slippery Rock. The unknown suspects are girls, possibly 15 to 17 years old, who are believed to be from the Slippery Rock area.The girls drove off in a silver Volkswagen Bug, a police report said. One of the girls was described as having black hair and wearing blacks boots with round rings up the side of the boots. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.7:20 a.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Carl J. Hartle Jr., 36, of Parker and a pickup truck driven by Aaron M. Hovis, 39, of Emlenton collided at Routes 38 and 58 in Eau Claire.Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Police said Hartle, who was taken to Grove City Medical Center, was cited for making an improper left turn. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.4:57 p.m. Saturday — Paul A. Barkus, 51, of Butler was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on McBride Road in Brady Township. Barkus, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the cycle. A medical helicopter flew him to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he is listed in stable condition.2:32 a.m. Saturday — A vehicle driven by Noah J. Miller, 18, of Butler struck a tree along Dutchtown Road near Garland Lane in Penn Township. Police said Miller was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.11:20 a.m. Friday — Leah T. Kletzli, 19, of Butler swerved her car to avoid another vehicle in her lane and crashed into a culvert along on Mushrush Road near Bullcreek Road in Jefferson Township.1:35 p.m. Friday — Two people were hurt when their car struck an embankment and rolled over on Route 528 near Barkley Road in Brady Township. Amanda R. Wadlow, 27, of Pittsburgh, the driver, was thrown out of the car.Police said Wadlow, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with major injuries. A passenger, David E. Potts, 30, of Youngstown, Ohio, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Friday — A Springfield Armory Mil-Spec-1911 pistol was stolen from a vehicle at Bacher Auto Garage on Thorn Run Road in Oakland Township. The gun, valued at $550, was taken between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.9:20 p.m. Thursday — Greg Diehl, 41, of Evans City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 488 in Prospect.July 1 — An unknown thief stole unspecified items worth about $600 from Trinity Lutheran Church in Center Township. The theft happened between 5:30 p.m. June 30 and 7 a.m. July 1.

9:43 p.m. Friday — Cars driven by Michele M. Grdgon, 42, of Blairsville, Indiana County, and Eddieliz N. Lewis, 47, of Emlenton collided at Route 68 and Kane Drive in Monroe Township. Police said Grdgon was cited for making an improper left turn.

4:45 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Glenn G. Claypool, 27, of Kittanning spun out and hit a guardrail on rain-soaked Route 28 about one-half mile south of Route 422 in North Buffalo Township. Police said Claypool was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.11:30 a.m. July 5 — Matthew Claypoole, 22, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his sport utility vehicle got stuck in a drainage ditch on Pine Hill Road in West Kittanning.July 5 — Unknown burglars cut a hole in the roof and stole an undetermined amount of currency from a safe and automated teller machine inside the Shop 'n Shop in the Franklin Village Mall in East Franklin Township.The suspects used cutting tools to crack the safe and get into the ATM. The break-in happened between 11:40 p.m. July 4 and 4:30 a.m. July 5.Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call police at 724-543-2011, or Armstrong County Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward for credible tips.1:05 p.m. July 3 — A person cutting weeds in a ditch near the intersection of Clay and Fourth streets in Templeton was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after being hit by a pickup truck.The crash happened when Brittany N. Bump, 20, of Templeton lost control of the truck and hit the ditch, striking the worker, who police did not identify. The pickup rolled onto its driver's side.Police released no other information but said that their investigation continues.12:25 a.m. July 3 — Curtis E. Costanzo, 46, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of DUI after his pickup truck struck an embankment and rolled over, landing on its roof on Route 28 in North Buffalo Township. Costanzo, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.Police said that in addition to DUI, Costanzo faces a charge of possessing a controlled substance, as well as several unspecified traffic violations.

3:49 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Kristen K. McFadden, 18, of Jackson Center and a pickup truck driven by Kelly G. Desue, 37, of Grove City collided at Springfield Church and Scrubgrass roads in Findley Township.The collision spun the pickup into a traffic sign and a decorative fence. Police said McFadden was cited for a sign violation.Thursday — An unknown thief stole a red Honda EX all-terrain vehicle from a barn on Kilgore Road in Worth Township, Mercer County. The ATV was taken between 1 p.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Thursday.5:01 a.m. Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a Pennsylvania license plate from a car at the Eat 'n Park on Leesburg-Grove City Road in Springfield Township. A surveillance camera at the restaurant captured the theft on video, which is being reviewed as part of the investigation.Police reported that the thief was driving a large white sedan, possibly a Lincoln Town Car.8:30 p.m. July 3 — Two 16-year-old boys escaped from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township. Both boys were wearing blue shorts; one had a red T-shirt and the other a blue T-shirt.Anyone with information about the boys' whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.July 4 — Several guns and about $3,000 in rolled quarters were stolen in a burglary at a School Road home in Springfield Township. The break-in occurred between July 2 and 4.

8:45 p.m. Saturday — An unknown arsonist set fire to a Grove City man's small guest house on Henderson Road in Jackson Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-598-2211.
