Make roll cages mandatory

When is government going to pass a law making manufacturers install roll cages on quads and snowmobiles?

If you race a stock car on a dirt track, you must have a roll cage and safety harness. Even farm tractors have roll protection.

Large equipment must have rollover protection, despite a top speed of one to 15 mph.

A stock car on a quarter-mile track, runs, I guess, at 50 mph to 60 mph.

Yet a quad can reach 60 mph to 80 mph — or faster — with no protection, going over all types of terrain.

I worked in construction for years. If a worker was higher than four feet off the ground, he had to wear a safety harness.

How many people must die before it is a law that quads and snowmobiles must have a roll bar? There are too many people killed each year — mostly young children who roll over a hill or hit a tree or guardrail.

Quads and snowmobiles are fast and a lot of fun for all ages, but make them safe.
