1:49 a.m. Thursday — John D. Dunmyre Jr., 23, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his fiancee, 20-year-old Cassandra Kertz of Evans City, during a domestic dispute at his Third Avenue home. The defendant also is accused of breaking a beer bottle on the windshield of Kertz's sport utility vehicle, causing about $200 in damage.Dunmyre was arraigned on charges of simple assault and criminal mischief, and placed in the Butler County Prison.Thursday — Police reported they charged a 17-year-old boy, who they did not identify, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Eau Claire Street.
8:31 p.m. Wednesday — Tasha Saeler, 19, of Butler faces drug charges after police were called for a man suffering a possible heroin overdose in the parking lot at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center complex near Morton Avenue.Police said they found Saeler with a suboxone pill, for which she did not have a prescription. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Tuesday — A bottle of prescription medication, $10 in coins and a blank check were taken in an early morning burglary at a home in the 400 block of McConnell Street.
12:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by a 17-year-old girl struck the rear of another on West Liberty Road in West Liberty. The girl, who police did not identify, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed and driving a vehicle with faulty brakes. The other driver, Debra M. Long, 45, of Slippery Rock, was delivering mail at the time of the crash.12:10 p.m. Wednesday — Several buckets of paint spilled from a truck onto Branchton Road in Cherry Township due to a poorly secured load, police said. Slippery Rock volunteer firefighters and a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation crew assisted police with the cleanup and traffic control.Police said the truck's driver Michael P. Kostic, 53, of North Versailles, Allegheny County, was cited for driving a vehicle with an unsecured load.Wednesday — A Sentry safe containing matching gold wedding rings, savings bonds and other documents was stolen in a daylight burglary at a house on Countryview Road in Worth Township. Also taken was $250 in currency.Police said two doors were kicked in to get inside the home between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The stolen property's estimated value is $3,400.
Saturday — About one ton of scrap metal owned by a Butler woman was stolen from Beagle Club Road in Washington Township. Armstrong County. The theft happened between May 22 and Saturday.May 31 — An unknown burglar or burglars stole a 32-inch Magnavox television and about 200 DVDs from a Linford Lane home in North Buffalo Township. The property, taken between May 29 and 31, is valued at $500.
Sunday — An unknown thief stole a mailbox and yard sign from a home on Diamond Road in Pine Township. The theft happened between 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.
