The Scherders in 1960

Charles and Katherine Scherder of Chicora celebrated 50 years of marriage with a dinner and dance cruise on the Gateway Clipper in Pittsburgh with Johnny Angel and the Halos.

Scherder married the former Katherine Vandersyde on June 4, 1960, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

They have four children, Kathie Groves of Chicora, Carrie Land of Harper, Texas, Rose Pawluk of Butler and Mary Lou Fleming of Butler.

They also have 13 grandchildren.

Scherder is retired from Parker Appliance in Chicora.Mrs. Scherder is a homemaker.The Scherders attend Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora.
