3:10 a.m. Sunday — An allegedly intoxicated Pittsburgh man was arrested after he ran from police officers called to remove him from the Days Inn on Route 8 South.Police said 26-year-old Jonathan Kurtz took off running when officers spotted him in the front parking lot and advised him he was under arrest. He ran across Route 8 to the back of the Pizza Hut. Sometime later, officers found him nearby inside the AK Steel plant.Kurtz was arrested and arraigned on charges of escape, resisting arrest, trespass, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Following arraignment, he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.3:19 p.m. Friday — Michelle Vanscoy, 31, of Fenelton is accused of shoplifting merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Police said Vanscoy is charged with retail theft.Noon Friday — Alfred Sutton, 33, and Sonja Wilson, 35, both of Butler, are charged with trespassing at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Sutton and Wilson were barred from the store in 2004 and 2009, respectively, according to a police report.12:30 p.m. Thursday — A 15-year-old student, who police did not identify, was cited for harassment following a fight with a 14-year-old student at the Butler Intermediate High School.
2:15 p.m. Monday — Vehicles driven by Nancy L. Bowser, 67, of Eau Claire and Linda M. Overheim, 48, of Foxburg, Armstrong County, collided at Route 58 and McKee Road in Allegheny Township. Police said Bowser was cited for a stop sign violation.6:04 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Tyler N. Phan, 24, of Erie crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Worth Township. Police said Phan was cited for a lane violation.11:33 a.m. May 29 — A Toshiba laptop computer was stolen from an unlocked apartment at the Pine Glen Apartments on Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said the suspected thief is a white man who was seen getting out of a Ford Focus before going into the apartment.
Monday — Police filed theft-related charges against James R. Whenry, 37, of Grove City, who is accused of taking money from a Pine Township women for home improvement services that he never provided her in May 2009.Whenry is charged with theft by deception and deceptive or fraudulent business practices.
Friday — About 100 steel-fabricated base plates used for diesel generators were stolen since Jan. 1 in a burglary at a storage garage on Martin Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.State Police, Kittanning10:05 p.m. Sunday — Joseph H. Holley Jr., 28, of Manorville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.
