10:42 a.m. Thursday — Terry Williams, 46, is accused of assaulting 36-year-old Cheryl Williams during a domestic dispute at the couple's Sumner Avenue apartment. He drove away after, police said. Williams is charged with simple assault.
Thursday — A black Sentry safe was reported stolen in a burglary at a home in the 100 block of Grant Street. The safe contained several prescription medications as well as a set of car keys.The owner believes the safe was stolen Wednesday or Thursday. Police said the unknown burglar got inside the house through a side window which was unlocked.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
Thursday — Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run crash on Stanford Road in Muddy Creek Township.The driver, who fled the scene before police got there, was eastbound in a 1989 Ford Mustang convertible coupe when the car made a 90-degree turn and struck a ditch near Pfeifer Road.A police news release noted that Barbara Greenawalt of Ellwood City owns the car.9:06 p.m. Wednesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Julia M. Davis, 17, of Harrisville crashed and rolled onto its roof on Harmony Road near Route 108 in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Davis was cited for a lane violation.6:45 p.m. Wednesday — Ashton R. Tate, 19, of Slippery Rock was hurt when the SUV he was driving struck an embankment and flipped onto its roof on West Park Road in Worth Township. Tate, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.4:30 p.m. Monday — Glenn R. Myers, 49, is accused of assaulting his wife, 50-year-old Kim D. Myers, during a domestic dispute at their home on Fenelton Road in Clearfield Township.Police said the suspect ran into woods behind his home before troopers got there. An extensive search was conducted, but police could not find Myers.Police noted the alleged victim refuses to cooperate with authoritiesDistrict Judge Lewis Stoughton later issued a warrant for Myers arrest on charges of simple assault and harassment. Anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Wednesday — Police filed charges against Christopher W. Schmidt, 32, of Butler for allegedly forging and cashing two stolen checks owned by a Center Township business for $1,100 last monthSchmidt, while working for Nicholas Moving & Storage on May 25, is accused of taking the checks from the pickup truck of his employer's owner.The suspect later signed the owner's name to the blank checks, which he made out to himself and cashed for $1,100.69, according to court documents.Schmidt is charged with a felony count of forgery as well as theft from a vehicle.Monday — Police accused Lori Ann Petanovich, 22, of Center Township in connection with the January theft of $800 in jewelry from the homes of her mother and sister-law in Center Township.Petanovich between Jan 5 and 13 allegedly took $500 in jewelry from her mother's house on McCandless Road, where the suspect also lives, according to court documents. Police said she also took $300 in jewelry from the home of a sister-in-law on North Benbrook Road.Investigators later recovered the stolen property that Petanovich sold at a local jewelry store.Petanovich admitted to police that she took the items and sold them for money that she used to buy heroin, documents said.Petanovich is charged with two counts each of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception. Additionally, she is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.2:45 p.m. Saturday — An unknown thief stole a black lawn cart from a Halston Road home in Brady Township. The suspect is described as a white man, believed to be in his late-20s, with brown hair and a thin build. He was seen driving a silver Ford truck.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
