Grove City's Hana Casalnova captured the 400 (58.55 seconds) and the 800 (2:16.97) at the District 10 Class AAA Track and Field Championships at Harbor Creek Wednesday, advancing to the PIAA Championships in both events.Only first-place championships are guaranteed a state qualifying spot, then those up to eight places who meet the standard.Other champions in girls Class AAA included the Eagles' Eliza Lowe in the 100 hurdles (15.88).In the boys Class AAA meet, Slippery Rock's Ryan Thompson won the 1,600 with a time of 4:32.59 while Grove City's Jake Kildoo captured the 3,200 (9:27.24), the latter time had beaten the standard.Sam Lotz finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 45 feet 5 inches, but he beat the qualifying standard.The Grove City girls finished in second place with 97 points behind champion Erie McDowell 173. In the boys final, Grove City placed fifth (62) and Slippery Rock sixth (47). McDowell also claimed the boys team championship with 144 points.The Slippery Rock girls will compete in Saturday's Class AA championship.
