Butler boys tennis makes WPIAL semis
The Butler High boys tennis squad advanced to the semifinal round of the WPIAL team tournament with a 5-0 victory over Bethel Park Tuesday.
Matt Slamecka (6-1, 6-2), Evan Kowalski (7-5, 6-1) and Will Nesbitt (6-0, 6-0) won their singles matches in straight sets, as did Tornado doubles teams of Zac McCafferty and Stefan Kemp (6-0, 6-0), and Kemper May and Emil Kemp (7-5, 6-1).
Butler plays the Upper St. Clair-Fox Chapel winner in the semifinals Thursday at a site to be determined.
Nick Lopresti and Zac Kepple won two events each Tuesday night as Karns City swept Clarion-Limestone.Lopresti won the 100 and 200 meters, and Kepple took the shot put and discus in the Gremlins' 116-34 victory.
