PITTSBURGH — John Paserba. Jr. of Cranberry Township has been named the Pittsburgh Area Outstanding Power Engineer for 2010.
Paserba's contributions in the power and energy field were recognized at the annual IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Pittsburgh Section History and Awards Dinner on May 6 at the University of Pittsburgh.
He has been involved with power systems during his 22-year career. He has published more than 60 international technical papers and has taught more than 40 courses and seminars worldwide on power systems.
He works at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products in Warrendale and is the product line manager in the Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker Department.
He began his career with General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y., after graduating with a bachelor's degree from Gannon University in 1987 and a master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1988.
Paserba has served the IEEE Power and Energy Society's Board, as well as society committees and the editorial board of the Power and Energy magazine.
Paserba is the son of John Sr. and Mary Paserba of Chicora. He lives in Cranberry Township with his wife, Marie, and children.
Donald A. Eury has been named the store manager for the Friedman's Freshmarket at Chicora.Before his promotion, Eury was a co-manager at Friedman's Freshmarket at Greater Butler Mart. He replaces Cheryl Knox, who resigned to spend more time with her family.Eury is a 1987 graduate of Butler Senior High School, and a 1995 graduate of Butler County Community College.He started working at the former Center Avenue Shop-n-Save after graduation in 1987. Shortly after the Friedman's store fire in Saxonburg in 2004, he stepped in to work at all the Friedman's stores.Eury lives in Butler.
GIBSONIA — St. Barnabas Medical Center has promoted Cindy Dunn of Chicora to director of its home care department.Dunn has 13 years of nursing experience and has been at St. Barnabas Health System as a registered nurse since 2002.Her positions there have included charge nurse, shift supervisor, assistant director of nursing.She also was the administrator of The Arbors at St. Barnabas, an assisted living center.Her responsibilities as director of home care include maintaining a patient case load; overseeing a staff of nurses, aides and companions; scheduling appointments; completing insurance paperwork and other documents; and marketing the home care department.Before pursuing an associate degree in nursing from Butler County Community College, Dunn worked for 18 years at Spang Specialty Metals in East Butler.She and her husband, Bob, have three daughters and three grandchildren.
STATE COLLEGE — Rex Energy Corp., which is drilling for Marcellus Shale in Butler County and other areas in the state, has announced two personnel changes.• Patrick McKinney has been named as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He received his bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming and his master's in business administration from Pepperdine University.• Eric Mattson has joined the company's board of directors. He is an investor in and the chief financial officer of Select Energy Services, a privately held oil service company based in Houston, Texas.
