Betty J. Rivers
Betty J. Rivers, 91, of Butler died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
Born Jan. 21, 1919, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Atkinson Biehl.
Betty was a 1936 graduate of Butler High School. Following high school she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. For the remainder of her career she worked for Nationwide Insurance in Butler for 22 years until 1982. She also was a homemaker, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and also was a volunteer for and member of the South Butler Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Betty greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Paul K. and JeanMarie Rivers of Marienville, and Christine and Arlington Kuklinca of Warren, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brian, Christian and Elise Kuklinca; six great-grandchildren, Robert, Rachel, Morgan and Abigail Kuklinca, and Ethan and Sophia Petersal; and a sister, Georgia Shaub, of Harrisburg.
Her husband, Paul E. Rivers, who she married Nov. 18, 1941, preceded her in death on March 17, 1969. An infant sister also preceded her in death.
<B>RIVERS</B> — Friends of Betty J. Rivers, who died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler with the Rev. Fr. Steven Neff, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.
