Thursday — Jonathan Nickleach, 23, of Butler was arrested on charges he broke into a Woodlawn Road home earlier this week and stole $1,400 worth of electronics equipment. Police said they recovered most of the property taken in the burglary Tuesday.Nickleach was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass, theft and receiving stolen property stemming from the break-in, and charges of possessing a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a separate case. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $17,500 bail, following arraignment.Thursday — Police charged five youths in connection with a series of burglaries dating back to last fall at Preston Laboratories on South Eberhart Road.The suspects, between 15 and 17 years ago, allegedly broke into the business on Oct. 17, and Jan. 23 and 27. In two of the break-ins, a golf cart was stolen and damaged.The teens, who police did not identify, are charged in juvenile court with burglary, conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.9:09 a.m. Wednesday — Michael Lewis, 23, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Saxonburg Road. Police also cited Lewis for speeding and an open container violation.

Wednesday — Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins this week on Evans Road and Jo Deener Drive.Police suspect the same person or persons are responsible for thefts overnight Monday and Tuesday. Property from electronics to tools have been stolen. All the vehicles were parked in driveways at the victims' homes.Jackson Township Police Chief Len Keller noted there was one other similarity in the thefts — all the vehicles were unlocked."These are examples of crimes of opportunities," he said, and again reminded people to always lock their unattended vehicles.

4:58 p. m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when cars driven by James H. Confer III, 20, of Cabot and Sondra E. McConnell, 48, of New Castle collided on Winfield Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Confer, who suffered a minor injury, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle. McConnell suffered an unknown injury.Tuesday — Several pieces of jewelry, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and charms, were taken from a jewelry box in a theft between March 30 and Tuesday in Muddy Creek Township.Monday — An unknown vandal spray painted on several buildings and a sidewalk at Armco Park in Slippery Rock Township. Damage in the vandalism between Saturday and Monday was estimated at $200.Sunday — Four 16-inch wheels with tires were stolen from an Orchid Lane home in Brady Township. The theft happened Saturday or Sunday.8:19 a.m. April 11 — Two teenagers were injured when one of them swerved her car to avoid a deer on the road and struck a utility pole along Route 308 near Watterson Lane in Center Township. Samantha J. Gray, 18, of West Sunbury, the driver, and Ashley N. Johnson, 17, of Butler, a passenger, suffered minor injuries.

4 p.m. April 8 — A handgun was found on Vot's Lane in Bradys Bend Township. Anyone with information about the lost gun is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
