Matscherz Sr.

Martin L. Matscherz Sr., 83, of Ellwood City died Sunday at his home.

Born June 18, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Adam and Margaret Angel Matscherz.

Martin was a lifelong hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and often could be found gardening or clearing brush on his small farm in Franklin Township.

He was a retired senior piping designer/checker, having worked at many petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants around the country. As a contract piping designer, he worked for many "job shops" and would always have humorous and interesting stories about the people and places he worked with while "on the road."

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sons, Martin L. (Gailyn) Matscherz Jr. of Zelienople and Edward J. Matscherz of Franklin Township; two brothers, George (Lorraine) Matscherz of Gibsonia and James (Theresa) Matscherz of Prosperity; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Andrews) Matscherz; a sister; and five brothers.

He will be sadly missed by his friends and family.

<B>MATSCHERZ </B>— Friends of Martin L. Matscherz Sr., who died Sunday, March 21, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., Zelienople, with Pastor Wilfred Goetze officiating.
