Shirley Morrow Byers

Shirley Audean Morrow Byers, 80, of Karns City, Concord Township, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an illness.

She was born June 2, 1929, in Butler County. She was the daughter of the late Ralph B. Morrow and the late Mary Catherine Burkett Morrow.

She was secretary for the director of the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare until her retirement.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Chicora. She was the church organist and pianist for many years, starting when she was 12 years old. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 45 and the White Shrine and a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge 19 in West Sunbury.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Hindman and Ruth Byers, both of Butler; one aunt, Grace P. Burkett of Karns City; her family caregivers, Raylene Osborne and Frances Harding, both of West Sunbury; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Byers, who died May 2, 1982; and an infant sister.

<B>BYERS </B>— Friends of Shirley Audean Morrow Byers, who died Thursday, March 18, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Ginger DiTullio, former S.A.M. of the West Sunbury Lutheran Parish, officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Concord Cemetery or the Butler VNA Hospice.
