In Slippery Rock's dual meet season opener, Jacob Spurk won the 1,600-meter run, the 3,200 and was a member of the winning 3,200 relay as the Rockets boys track and field team beat George Junior Republic 77-74 and Commodore Perry 130-16.

In the girls meet, Jess Vitous, Casey Dudek, Morgan Siebka, Ali Lotz and Chelsea Master each won two individual events for Slippery Rock, which shut out Commodore Perry, 149-0.

• Freeport's Derek Durand won both hurdling events to key the Yellowjackets boys in a 107-43 defeat of Kittanning.

In the girls meet, Freeport won all three relays in beating the Wildcats 109-41.
