Elmer C. Mondell Sr., 87, of Robinson Township, Coraopolis, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday in his home.

Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Boyers, he was the son of the late Joseph Mondell and Mary Horvat Mondell.

Mr. Mondell was an electrician for the Wildwood Coal Mine in Wildwood for 23 years. Then he worked for the Army Corp. of Engineers as an electrician in Oakdale, where he retired in 1981.

Mr. Mondell was a member of the Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church in McKees Rocks. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.

Mr. Mondell Sr. is survived by three sons, Rev. Richard "Rick" Mondell of Goldsboro, N.C., Robert "Bobby" Mondell of Millsboro, Del., and Ronald "Ronnie" Mondell of Glenpool, Okla.; one daughter, Maryann Mondell of Coraopolis; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and one sister, Mrs. Goldie Daniels of McKeesport.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mondell was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Mondell, who passed away on May 18, 2006; his son, Elmer "Butch" Mondell; two sister; and one brother.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the North Side Cemetery, Butler, with his son, Rev. Richard "Rick" Mondell officiating.
