East Brady — Richard Bridgeman has been promoted to store manager of East Brady Freshmarket, announced Howard Christie, president of FMT Foods, which runs the business.
In his new position, Bridgeman is responsible for the operation of the grocery store at Bridge and Water streets.
He started working at Friedman's Point Plaza Supermarket in 2006, soon after retiring from the Marine Corps. He was promoted to co-manager in 2007, then was transferred to Friedman's Saxonburg store in 2008.
He worked at the Saxonburg store until his appointment as East Brady store manager.
He served in Okinawa, Japan; Pohang, South Korea; and in Desert Shield/Storm during his 20 years in the Marine Corps.
Bridgeman replaces Tracy Snow, who resigned to open her own business.
He lives in Connoquenessing and has two children in Wyoming.
WARRENDALE — Assistant editor Ryan Gehm and SAE International's Automotive Engineering International magazine recently were presented with a silver award in the Truck Writers of North America's seventh annual Communication Awards competition.Gehm and AEI received the award in the magazine writing — technical category for the article, "Truckin' Along," in the May 2009 edition.The award was presented March 25 in Louisville, Ky., at the annual Truck Writers of North America Industry Awards Banquet.
Oil prices fell for a fifth day to below $84 a barrel Tuesday as traders mulled whether a slowly improving U.S. economy justified the recent two-month, 25 percent crude rally and experts warned that high oil prices could threaten the budding economic recovery.By early afternoon in Europe, benchmark crude for May delivery was down 76 cents to $83.58 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract lost 58 cents to settle at $84.34 on Monday.
