Beatrice F. Nye, 87, of Butler passed away Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Perlick) Checkan.

Beatrice enjoyed gardening, reading and going to flea markets and yard sales.

Surviving are a sister, Patricia and her husband, Harold, Jurysta of Butler; and a brother, Joseph and his wife, Jean, Checkan of Sandy Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore T. Nye, who died May 14, 2007; a son, Ted Nye; two sisters; and three brothers.
