H. Eugene "Gene" Kennedy, 88, of Cabot died Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 24, 1921, on the family farm in Winfield Township, where he lived all of his life, he was the son of Harry E. and Nellie Hesselgesser Kennedy.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer.

Gene attended Center School in Winfield Township and was a 1938 graduate of Winfield High School.

Gene was an active member of the Cabot United Methodist Church, where he served in various offices and taught Sunday school for a number of years.

Gene enjoyed genealogy and local history and flower gardening. He was a member of the Butler County Historical Society and had volunteered at Cooper Cabin for many years.

Gene was a member of the Butler and the Pennsylvania State granges for 70 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie (Guy) Kennedy, who he married June 28, 1952; two sons, David Kennedy of Cabot and Roger (Lori) Kennedy of Butler; his sister, Mae Kennedy Plyler of Cabot; eight grandchildren, Matt (Megan) Kennedy, Kelly Kennedy and Jessica, Anne, Andrew, Hannah, Abigail and Corrie; and also a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Mark, and five sisters.

<B>KENNEDY</B> — Friends of H. Eugene "Gene" Kennedy, who died Thursday, March 4, 2010, will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cabot United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matthew Judd officiating. Interment will follow in the Sarversville Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Cabot United Methodist Church Building Fund.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
