Porter

Elizabeth May Porter, 88, formerly of Tarentum, died Tuesday at Saxony Health Care Center, Saxonburg, where she was a resident for eight years.

Born Feb. 15, 1922, in Tarentum, she was a daughter of the late Mathias Thimons and Margaret (Collins) Thimons, and she lived in Tarentum most of her life.

Elizabeth, who was a 1940 graduate of Tarentum High School, was a homemaker

She was a member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, was an avid bingo player and especially enjoyed and loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are sons, Albert L. "Al" (Janice) Porter Jr. of South Buffalo Township and Mathias S. "Matt" (Carol) Porter of Jefferson Township; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Lori) Porter of Jefferson Township, David Porter of Grand Island, N.Y., Scott (Fran) Porter of Tarentum, Jeffrey (Kelly) Porter of Valencia, Kimberly (Douglas) Sober of Penn Township, Susan (John) Levi of Scott Township and Karen MacKinlay of Franklin Park; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Theodore (Betty Lou) Thimons of Buffalo Township and William Thimons of Tarentum; and a sister, Rose Marie (Harry) Hensel of Tarentum.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Porter Sr., who died Jan. 23, 2001; two brothers, Joseph and Mathias "Matt" Thimons; and four sisters, Gertrude Mastro, Margaret Rulis, Anna Horzempa and Mildred Magnetta.

<B>PORTER</B> — Relatives and friends of Elizabeth May Porter, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at <B>DUSTER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 10 Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where a blessing service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday. A Christian funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, with her pastor, the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss officiating.
