William J. Salonus

William J. Salonus, 88, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, formerly of Hopewell Township, died Saturday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Aliquippa, July 16, 1921, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mary Kelly Salonus.

He was a retired pharmacist for Thrift Drug in Ambridge and belonged to the Aliquippa Elks Club for 60 years.

A World War II Army veteran, he also belonged to the Hopewell VFW.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie L. Newell Salonus, who he married July 22, 1957; a son, William Salonus Jr. of Greenfield, Wis.; two daughters, Sandra Maitland of North Versailles and Mary Rockwell and her husband, Michael, of Middlesex Township; a sister, Kathryn Porter of Aliquippa; a brother, Edward C. Salonus and his wife, Ruth, of Cincinnati; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

<B>SALONUS</B> — Services and interment for William J. Salonus, who died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, are private and under the direction of the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, </B>Mars.
