Wednesday — Police charged William George Miller, 24, a day after he allegedly stole a cell phone and money from 21-year-old Lindsay McNeish of Clay Township, who was visiting at his North Main Street apartment. He later assaulted the woman, police said.McNeish told police that Miller took the phone and $65 from her purse and then left his apartment. She said she stayed there until he returned.The two argued when he got back. McNeish said Miller hit her, threw her out of the apartment and locked the door, according to a police report.Miller is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault.Tuesday — An unknown thief stole a green, 1989 Kawasaki KX-80 dirt bike from the yard of a home in the 400 block of East Jefferson Street. The possible suspect, a white man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, was seen pushing the bike near Chestnut and Cunningham streets.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-287-7743.
12:31 a.m. Wednesday — Keith Tebay Jr., 25, of Butler was arrested on a warrant, and found with a suspected marijuana pipe. He faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.1 p.m. Tuesday — A flare gun was found outside Chili's restaurant at Butler Commons. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-285-9600.Tuesday — Police cited Richard Menchyk, 25, and Erica Mack, 21, both of Butler for trespassing at Wal-Mart in Butler Commons.
9:30 a.m. Wednesday — Thomas C. Pattison, 37, of Ashville, N.Y., was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and drug-related charges after a PennDOT inspection at an Interstate 79 weigh station in Cranberry Township.Police said a search of Pattison's truck tractor turned up two baggies of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned on charges of DUI and marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, and placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.10:50 p.m. Tuesday — George E. Weiland, 52, of Fenelton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 422 and Cornetti Road in Clearfield Township. He was placed in Butler County Prison after police found he was wanted on unrelated warrants.Tuesday — Brett A. Hildebrand, 25, of Karns City was arrested on theft and other charges for allegedly selling a 65-inch television he had rented from a store. Additionally, he is accused of selling an Xbox video game system, also owned by a rental store.Hildebrand on March 11 reported to police that the TV and Xbox had been stolen from his Petrolia Street home. He falsely accused his former roommate for the theft, according to a police report.Police said their investigation later determined the defendant had sold the rental items.Hildebrand was arraigned on two counts of theft of leased property and charged with theft by deception and false reports to law enforcement authorities. He was placed in Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail following arraignment.4:35 p.m. March 18 — A 14-year-old boy allegedly took a dirt bike from a Clearfield Township home without the owner's permission. The boy, who was later found in East Butler, is charged in juvenile court with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
