BUTLER TWP — Six days before the grand opening of Kohl's, employees were learning how to work together as a team.

As workers outside the Butler Crossing Shopping Center building on Friday were putting the finishing touches on the building, the sales staff was learning lessons in cooperation and helping customers.

Rhonda Morrison, the Butler Crossing store manager, said Kohl's created 130 full- and part-time jobs.

Although she has been with Kohl's for more than 14 years, the township store is the first she has helped to open at which she also will be the manager.

Construction began in August with just a few minor delays because of the heavy snow this winter, Morrison said.

The store will open at 7 a.m. Wednesday with a ribbon cutting just before the doors open.

For shoppers who have not been in a Kohl's before, Morrison said it has "a family focus with everything from apparel to home and shoes."

She also mentioned the store's community commitments, such as A-Team events in which employees work on projects with nonprofits, and how the store also gives $500 to nonprofits.

"Last year in the Pittsburgh region, we completed 160 A-Team events," Morrison said, adding the store is looking forward to working with the community here.

Butler Crossing was developed by Akron, Ohio-based Cedarwood Development, which also built Butler Commons.
