SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Sliders of the Prospect League, a collegiate wooden bat baseball circuit, open their second season June 6 against the West Virginia Miners at Critchfield Park.

The Sliders will play 28 home games this summer after the league expanded to a 56-game schedule.

The Miners are one of four Prospect League expansion teams this year. Based in Beckley, W.Va., they join the DeKalb County (Ill.) Liners, Nashville (Tenn.) Outlaws and Terre Haute (Ind.) Rex as newcomers to the league.

Slippery Rock will play the Butler BlueSox 12 times in 2010 — six times at Critchfield and six times at Pullman Park.

Karns City native and Nashville recording artist Sarah Wilson will perform during the July 4 home game.
