12:12 p.m. Thursday — Joshua Wagner, 27, of Butler was charged with simple assault after he allegedly threw his girlfriend against a wall and choked her at her North McKean Street residence.8:38 a.m. Thursday — Brandon Michale Backus, 26, of Butler was charged with simple assault after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend against the wall of her Shore Street apartment and pulled her hair. After his arrest, it was discovered Backus had a warrant for assault in Florida.4:09 a.m. Thursday — Someone broke into a vacant house along North Main Street, stealing about $500 worth of copper wiring and piping. Most of the 100 feet of 1-to-3-inch piping is painted a pastel green. The burglar broke two windows trying to gain access, and apparently removed the pipe and wiring using a hacksaw.2 p.m. Tuesday — Someone entered a home along Carbon Street between 12:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday and stole a purse containing a cell phone with Bluetooth headset, a digital camera and several credit cards belonging to Shannon Herrington from the kitchen table. Someone also broke the side door window at the home later in the day.
Friday — Someone stole two wheels from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of North Duffy Road. Anyone with information can call police at 724-285-9600.1:20 p.m. Thursday — Joyce Shoemaker, 49, of Butler was charged with DUI and hit-and-run following a one-vehicle crash on South Eberhart Road in which Shoemaker allegedly struck a road sign with her vehicle and then fled.12:26 p.m. Thursday — Brian D. Lambing, 36, of Butler was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal $194 worth of items from Wal-Mart.9:04 p.m. Thursday — Tiphany Ohler, 24, of Ford City was charged with retail theft after she allegedly tried to steal $316 worth of toys and clothing from Wal-Mart.9:55 a.m. Thursday — The North Main Street Cemetery was cited for burning in violation of township ordinance after workers were allegedly found burning brush and nonyard waste.9:10 p.m. Wednesday — Teri Beggs, 49, of Butler was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly smelled marijuana while speaking to Beggs at her home about a separate investigation.11:20 a.m. Wednesday — Jason Cotto, 33, of Valencia was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal a hoagie from Friedman's at the Greater Butler Mart.5:33 p.m. Monday — John Cumpston, 54, of Butler was charged with DUI and hit-and-run to unattended property after he allegedly backed his vehicle into a road sign and a parked vehicle at Ellis Suzuki before fleeing.
3:35 p.m. Friday — A pickup truck driven by James E. Claypoole Jr., 44, of Petrolia and a conversion van driven by Malene M. Baptiste, 44, of Fenelton collided on Route 68 in Donegal Township. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and were not injured.8:15 p.m. Thursday — An ATV operated by a 14-year-old Cabot boy overturned on Clearfield Road in Winfield Township. The boy suffered a minor injury when he was struck by the ATV after being thrown from it. He was cited for operating an ATV on the road and operating an ATV under the age of 16. A second 14-year-old Cabot boy who was a passenger on the ATV was not injured.8:10 a.m. Thursday — Someone stole a Cobra 29 CB radio with Astatic microphone and an Insignia portable DVD player belonging to David C. Divins of Fairmount City, Clarion County, from a company truck parked outside Gardenscape Transport in Allegheny Township between 1 p.m. Monday and 8:10 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information can call police at 724-284-8100.8 a.m. Dec. 6 — Someone entered the home of Kevin Jay Smith on Hooker Road in Fairview Township and stole about $200 worth of coins between 10 p.m. Dec. 5 and 8 a.m. Dec. 6.
5:45 p.m. Monday — A car driven by a 17-year-old girl from Conneaut Lake crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Cranberry and Irishtown roads in Pine Township. She was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.4:30 p.m. Monday — Someone slashed a tire and poured an unknown substance into the gas tank of a vehicle belonging to Bradley M. Messer of Grove City, causing about $300 in damage, while the vehicle was parked at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday.
