8:51 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by Tracey Smith, 40, of Butler spun out on ice at Center Avenue and Hickory Street and collided with a van driven by John Melzer, 67, of Tarentum, Allegheny County.12:04 p.m. Dec. 4 — William L. Gold, 41, of Butler managed to avoid injury when the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer he was driving caught fire on South Main Street near Campbell Street.Police said Gold was able to pull over and safely get out of the sport utility vehicle. He told authorities he believed unknown mechanical failure caused the fire, which police do not consider suspicious.The SUV sustained major damage. Police, meanwhile, cited Gold for driving with a suspended license.
2:31 p.m. Tuesday — Two drivers were cited but no one was injured in a three-vehicle accident on New Castle Road in front of the Eat-n-Park restaurant. The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Linda Mahood, 55, of Parker rear-ended a vehicle driven by Lester Fleeger, 72, of Butler. A third vehicle driven by Cathleen Smith, 60, of Butler then hit the back of Mahood's vehicle.Police said Mahood and Smith face tickets for careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed, respectively.
Tuesday — Jason Scott Miller, 23, of Greenville is accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old in the borough between Oct. 17 and mid-November. Miller is charged with three counts each of unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and indecent assault.Tuesday — Kody Slater, 18, of Sandy Lake is accused of picking up a Grove City woman's medication without authorization and not returning it to her. The alleged theft occurred Oct. 6 at the Rite Aid on West Main Street.Slater is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation.
12:01 a.m. today — Stephen G. Ramsey, 24, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car hit a utility pole along Benbrook Road in Center Township.Wednesday — An unknown burglar stole a .40-caliber Taurus handgun, 30.06 Remington pump-action rifle and an Xbox video game system from a Queens Court home in Clay Township. The burglary occurred between Dec. 9 and Wednesday.3:47 p.m. Tuesday — A 17-year-old Butler girl, whom police did not identify, is accused of shoplifting a pair of boots at Raven Rock Footwear in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. The girl is charged with retail theft.3:05 p.m. Tuesday — A 16-year-old Slippery Rock High School student showed up at school under the influence of medication prescribed to his father. The boy faces a charge of public drunkenness.Monday — A 3-month-old, black pit bull was stolen between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. from a home in the 700 block of Main Street in Bruin.Monday — Jewelry, coins and an unspecified gun were stolen in a burglary between Oct. 17 and Monday at a Pflugh Road home in Forward Township.Friday — Police filed felony fraud and other charges against Brent Lee Miller, 27, of Parker, who is accused of taking a credit card from his mother's Slater Road home in Allegheny Township and using it to buy an Xbox and several video games worth a combined $863.Miller is charged with access device fraud, theft and forgery.Dec. 8 — A 17-inch, black Compaq laptop computer and Sanyo digital camera were stolen in a burglary at a home in the 1200 block of Mahood Road in Center Township..
6:05 a.m. Tuesday — Bradley Stewart, 20, of Freeport was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after an accident on Route 356 in Freeport
