Ruth Lavina Bly, 91, of Chicora passed away at 7:55 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.

She was a resident of the Chicora Medical Center for the past two years.

She was born in Kaylor, Armstrong County, on Sept. 26, 1918, a daughter of the late William J. Kamerer and Sergie E. Bish Kamerer.

She was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Criswell Methodist church.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose in Chicora and retired after 30 years from Butler Memorial Hospital where she was a nurse's aide on the maternity floor.

She married Merle M. Bly on Dec. 11, 1934, in East Brady. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1991.

Surviving are three sons, Roland L. Bly and his wife, Joan, of Karns City, William W. Bly and his wife, Nancy, of Laplace, La., and Leonard M. Bly and his wife, Rita, of Chicora; two daughters, Vivian E. Cramer of Butler and Carol A. Sudza and her husband, John, of Las Vegas, Nev.; 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. James D. Kamerer and his wife, Maxine, of New Castle; two sisters, Annie A. Atkinson of Butler and Robirda M. Edinger of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband were one daughter, Darla Karenbauer on May 12, 1992; two grandchildren, Cheryl Smith on Dec. 4, 2003, and Tracy Bly on Nov. 22, 1972; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Bly Myers on May 18, 1996, and Kyle Bly on Oct. 22, 2007; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Dunlap on May 12, 1992; two sisters, Mardie Hicks on Dec. 24, 2002, and Lucille Hicks on Aug. 16, 2009; and two brothers, William A. Kamerer and David A. Kamerer in 1981.

<B>BLY</B> — Friends of Ruth Lavina Bly, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B> in Petrolia. Friends also will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Paula's Community Church, Route 268, Chicora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Rick C. Russell, pastor of the East Brady United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Randall J. Forester, pastor of the St. Paula's Community Church, officiating.Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hillisfuneralhome.com.
