Orton 'Danny' Duffy
Orton "Danny" D. Duffy, formerly of Butler, died Sunday at his home in Florida.
Born Feb. 10, 1922, in North Washington, he was the son of the late Orton and Hazel (Pennington) Duffy.
After serving in the Air Force as a sergeant in World War II, he worked as an electrician at Armco Steel in Butler.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the American Legion organizations in Butler and the Moose in Florida.
He married the late Audrey P. Howell in England on Nov 21, 1944, and she died in 2003.
On Dec. 4, 2004, he married Dorothy E. (Wilbert) Welter Kay in Butler. Also surviving are his son, Glenn Duffy of Florida; four daughters, Marilyn Shikella of Arizona, Mrs. Kim (Linda) Karnash of Florida, Mrs. Stephen (Pamela) Ballash of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. James (Wendy) Mamula of Florida, as well as his wife's daughter, Roleen Palace of Florida; three sons, David Welter of Florida, Ronald Welter of Florida and Anthony Welter of Butler; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his wife's four grandchildren.
Also surviving are six siblings, Mrs. Clifford (Lois) Williamson of Butler, Mrs. John (Jean) Rock of Florida, Mrs. Raymond (Marjorie) Smith of Ohio, Mrs. Ellis (Mary Ann) Lee of Arizona, Mrs. Robert (Betty Lou) Eonta of Florida and Tom Duffy of Florida.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and a grandson.
<B>DUFFY</B> — Friends of Orton "Danny" D. Duffy, who died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>YOUNG Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Curt McDaniel officiating.
