Dr. Joshua Sckolnick has joined the Butler Memorial Hospital medical staff and the otolaryngology practice of Drs. Yost and Welker in Butler, specializing in ear, nose and throat issues and diseases, head and neck surgery, and inhalant allergies.
Sckolnick received his bachelor's degree in neuroscience, magna cum laude, from the University of Rochester in New York, and his doctoral degree from Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine in Cleveland.
As a medical student, he was awarded the McGraw-Hill Book Award for most outstanding first-year student. Sckolnick completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, as well as his residency in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery.
He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and is active in research and publishing in the area of ear, nose and throat medicine and surgery.
BUCKHANNON, W.V. — Lance Miller, originally of Meridian, has been named the mill manager of the Weyerhaeuser's engineered wood products plant in Buckhannon.Miller is a 1989 graduate of Butler High School. His parents, Bron and Debbie Miller, live in Meridian.He earned his bachelor's degree in forestry from West Virginia University in 1994. He has worked in Buckhannon before, but also at a Valdosta, Ga., plant.He and his wife, Wendy, and their two children will live in Buckhannon.
Dr. James Craig, a doctor of osteopathy, has joined the Butler Memorial Hospital medical staff and is a member of the Tri Rivers Surgical Associates at the Cranberry Township-Mars office.He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003 and did an interventional pain management fellowship and physical medicine residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital from 2004 to 2008. He also received a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Penn State University.
PENN TWP — The Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools has announced Penn Christian Academy has been awarded accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.This accreditation is a 12-month process as governed by a steering committee. The process involved many elements of the Penn Christian Academy community, including faculty, parents and students.
NORTH BUFFALO TWP, Armstrong County — The Armstrong County Commissioners and the county's Industrial Development Authority broke ground Friday for the construction of a multi-tenant building at Northpointe.Construction of the 30,000-square-foot, two-story building to be known as Northpointe Technology Center II will start in late summer 2010.Northpointe is a 4,000-acre mixed use business, industrial, education and living park.
