Stroup 60th anniversary

The Stroups in 1949

Ken and Marie Stroup of Chicora will celebrate 60 years of marriage with an open house at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Fairview Township Building in Karns City.

Stroup married the former Marie Cumberland on Nov. 5, 1949, at the home of the Rev. Joseph Hunter in Hooker.

They have six children, Ken Stroup Jr. of Chicora, Pam Fry of Chicora, Kim Flick of Karns City, Sherry Anderson of Chicora, Theresa Bovard of Harrisville and Michelle Parson of Chicora. Two other children, Marla Stroup and Randy Stroup, are deceased.

They also have 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren are deceased.

Mr. Stroup is retired from Armco Steel. He is a member of the NRA and enjoys hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Stroup is retired from the Moniteau School District. She is a former deacon and Session member at her church. She also is a member of Butler MADD.The Stroups attend Concord Presbyterian Church.
