2:48 p.m. Wednesday — A hit-and-run driver in a white Chevrolet Beretta struck a car at Franklin and West North and drove away without providing insurance information to the other driver, Deana Fennick, 34, of Center Township.10:44 p.m. Tuesday — Lawrence J. Mull, 46, of Gibsonia was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 8 near the Gen. Richard Butler Bridge. He also was cited for careless driving.Tuesday — Police accused Charmaigne Tack, 23, and her boyfriend, Joshua A. Kuhns, 24, both of Butler, of forging two checks for a combined $860 and depositing them last week into their bank accounts.The owner of the checks, Wendy Smith of Butler, told police that Tack, her niece, had visited her home Oct. 9. Police said one of Smith's allegedly forged checks was deposited into Kuhns' account on Oct. 11; the other was deposited into Tack's account on Oct. 12.Both defendants are charged with forgery and conspiracy.
Wednesday — A motorcyclist reported losing a "substantial" amount of money while traveling on Route 8, Hansen Avenue or New Castle Road. Anyone who might have found the money is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.8:48 a.m. Tuesday — A minivan driven by Mary Shepherd, 62, of New Castle and a car driven by Matthew McConnell, 32, of Renfrew collided on South Eberhart Road at Lifesteps. McConnell suffered a minor injury.
Wednesday — Two Stihl leaf blowers and a Stihl Weedeater were stolen between 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. from the bed of an Armstrong County man's truck at the County Line Tavern parking lot in Clearfield Township.Tuesday — Someone smashed out windows at Gehm's Vittle Village and entered the store on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township. It was not immediately known if anything was taken in the burglary between 7:20 and 7:45 p.m.Tuesday — Bottles of prescription medication worth nearly $400 were stolen between 5 and 6:25 a.m. in a burglary at a Route 356 home in Winfield Township.Oct. 15 — An unknown burglar stole $283 in currency and a stainless steel lock box after breaking into Kelley's Family Restaurant on West Main Street in Saxonburg, The burglary happened between 9 p.m. Oct. 14 and 5:40 a.m. Oct. 15.
Thursday — Numerous pieces of jewelry and a small, Philips flat-screen television were stolen in a burglary at a Centertown Road home in Wolf Creek Township. The stolen property, taken between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., is valued at $5,315.8:58 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Violet V. Thompson, 79, of Slippery Rock and a sport utility vehicle driven by Quinn K. Conklin, 40, of Butler collided on Route 258 in Liberty Township. Both drivers were taken to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, with minor to moderate injuries10:10 a.m. Oct. 16 — A 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt struck a mailbox and utility pole along Jackson Center Polk Road in Worth Township. The unknown driver fled, leaving the car behind.
Monday — A Hewlett Packard laptop computer was stolen from Hicks Dining Hall at Grove City College. A freshman student from Glenshaw, Allegheny County, owns the computer valued at $2,500.
