Mildred Herold Snyder, 93, of Highland Ave., Butler, died at 12:18 a.m. Sunday in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Born Sept. 19, 1916, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert E. Herold and the late Edith (Rensel) Herold.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked for the Butler School District Food Service, retiring in 1981 as a supervisor after more than 25 years. Before working for the school, she baked pies and sold them to restaurants. She developed the strawberry pie recipe for Morgan Restaurants.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by two sons, George H. Snyder and his wife, Kathy, of Butler and David E. Snyder Sr. and his wife, Darlene, of Butler; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her husband, Hawley M. Snyder, who she married Nov. 26, 1936. He passed away on Marc 7, 1993. She also was preceded in death by two sisters.

<B>Snyder</B> — Friends of Mildred Herold Snyder, who died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
