Ernest 'Short' Bullman
Ernest E. "Short" Bullman, 84, of Taylor Street, Petrolia, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Sunday at the Sugarcreek Rest following an extended illness.
He was born in Fairview Township, Butler County, March 18, 1925, and was a son of the late Andrew Bullman and Alice Morrow Bullman.
He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department.
He began his working career with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and then retired from the Chessie System as track foreman in June 1986 after 43 years of service.
He married the former Roberta J. Sutton on June 18, 1949, in Chicora; and she preceded him in death June 5, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest F. Bullman Sr. of Osceola Mills, Pa., and Paul E. Bullman of Petrolia; three daughters, Nancy L. Gifford and her husband, Larry W., of Petrolia, Darlene K. Shay of Niles, Ohio, and Bonnie J. Marzik and her husband, Gerald G., of Kennerdell; six grandchildren, Larry L. Gifford and Monica Fish of Cabot, Sharon D. Hart and her husband, Clay R. of Beaver Falls, Kevin P. Shay of Niles, Ohio, Karri Comer of Niles, Ohio, Ernest F. Bullman of Smithmill, Pa., and Jade L. Bullman of Phillipsburg, Pa.; five great-grandchildren: Austin, Devin and Madelyn Comer, all of Niles, Ohio, and Ethan and Hannah Jo Hart both of Beaver Falls; a sister, Eunice Ealy of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Conni M. Bullman of Osceola Mills, Pa., a sister-in-law, Jane Bullman of Karns City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Merle, Forrest, Harold and Clarence Bullman; one sister, Charlotte Mahood and his dog and friend, Brandy, a yellow Labrador retriever in 2003.
<B>BULLMAN</B> — Friends of Ernest E. "Short" Bullman, who died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home on Wednesday with the Rev. Scott W. Bunting, pastor of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
