Shields 50th anniversary
C. Edwin and Grace Shields of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage by traveling to visit family members in Kansas, Oregon, Ohio and Pennsylvania. They also hosted friends from Hawaii.
Shields married the former Grace Shaffer on Oct. 10, 1959, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Birdsboro, Pa.
They have three children, the Rev. Dr. Mary E. Shields of Columbus, Ohio, Vicki Cannon of Shawnee, Kan., and Carl E. Shields of Butler.
They also have six grandchildren.
Mr. Shields is the owner of Ed Shields Realtor. He has served in many capacities for many Butler organizations, including the Community Development Corporation of Butler County and the Butler County Association of Realtors. He has taught real estate courses at the Butler County Community College since its inception. He enjoys golf, bridge, traveling and "covered bridging."
Mrs. Shields has served as a volunteer for many organizations in Butler, including the Butler County chapter of the American Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Maridon Museum. She enjoys golf, bridge, traveling, reading, bowling and "covered bridging."The Shields attend St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler, where they have served on many committees.
