Raymond B. Washburn
Raymond B. Washburn, 84, of Cabot died at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.
Born Feb. 23, 1925, in Sharon, he was the son of the late Oakley Emerson Washburn and Catherine Florence Magill Washburn.
Mr. Washburn was a chief civil engineer, retiring in 1991 after 45 years of service with Chester Engineers in Coraopolis.
Ray served as the past president of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, where he was a past elder of the church. He was an active member of the North Hills Squares, and he was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II with the Army Engineers as a staff sergeant.
Mr. Washburn is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" M. Haugh Washburn, who he married April 24, 1953; a daughter, Carol Washburn of Penn Hills; a son, Jeff Washburn and his wife, Kate, of Saxonburg; four granddaughters, Kathryn M. Washburn of Columbia, S.C., Julia Snyder of Kansas City, Mo., Anna Snyder of Penn Hills and Gretchen Snyder of Penn Hills; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Harper; and a number of nephews.
Two brothers preceded Mr. Washburn in death.
<B>WASHBURN </B>— There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Raymond B. Washburn, who died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Merry H. Meloy, of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, officiating.Before the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at noon at the church.Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E.
