8:05 p.m. Tuesday — Stacey LeCerf, 23, of Butler was charged with retail theft after she allegedly tried to leave Wal-Mart in Butler Commons without paying for merchandise.7:35 p.m. Tuesday — Helen R. Thompson, 39, of Butler was charged with retail theft after she allegedly took merchandise from Wal-Mart in Butler Commons.Saturday — David Claypoole, 19, of Boyers was charged with retail theft after he allegedly stole items from Ollie's in Moraine Pointe Plaza.Oct. 15 — Benjamin David Morrison, 22, of Butler Township was charged with driving under the influence stemming from an Aug. 13 traffic stop on Route 8. Police also cited Morrison for a lane violation.Oct. 15 — Leroy William Montgomery, 55, of Center Township was charged with DUI stemming from a Sept. 20 traffic stop on New Castle Road. He also was cited for driving without insurance and without his registration card, not using turn signals and careless driving.Oct. 15 — Police filed a bad check charge against David K. Arnold, 30, of Butler for allegedly bouncing a $144.08 check April 23 at Friedman's in Point Plaza. The check was written on an account with non-sufficient funds.Arnold is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of bad checks since this was his third bad check case in the past five years, according to court documents.Oct. 15 — Melissa A. Stephens, 34, of Kittanning is accused of passing a bum $250 check, written on an account with insufficient funds, on May 21 at Fast Track Financial on Route 8 South. Stephens is charged with bad checks.
4:45 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Loren Telesz, 17, of Ellwood City crashed into an embankment on Center Church Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Telesz was cited for a lane violation.
5:25 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Shawn P. Carey, 39, of Pittsburgh and a sport utility vehicle driven by Corey A. Plunkard, 23, of Karns City collided on Fisher Road and Route 356 in Jefferson Township. Carey was cited for careless driving.12:05 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by David Pieropan, 24, of New Kensington, Westmoreland County, crashed into a large rock on Harmony Road near Campus Side Circle in Slippery Rock Township. Pieropan fled the crash, leaving his three passengers at the scene.Pieropan faces several traffic violations including driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.Tuesday — Wayne Robert Kapalka, 57, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, is accused of passing a bogus $4,300 check on Sept. 24 to Nesbits Landscape Supply on Route 8 in Penn Township. The check was allegedly written on a closed account. Kapalka is charged with a felony count of theft by deception.11:35 p.m. Monday — Cars driven by Wanda J. Broskey, 33, of Cabot and Linda L. Schmid, 65, of Butler collided on Route 8 in Middlesex TownshipOct. 4 — A burglar or burglars broke into a home in the 200 block of East Portersville Road in Muddy Creek Township. A police report did not say if any property was taken in the burglary that happened between Sept. 20 and Oct. 4.Oct. 4 — Nothing was stolen in a burglary between Oct. 2 and 4 at a home in the 1200 block of Evans City Road in Connoquenessing Township.
5:49 p.m. Sunday — Hillary Lynn Donivan, 22, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 near the Hill Top Plaza in East Franklin Township.1:50 p.m. Sunday — A vehicle driven by Edward Velez Jr., 19, of Sarver struck the rear of another vehicle on Route 422 in Kittanning Township. Velez was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Barry Shaffer, 25, of Ford City was driving the other vehicle.Sunday — A Kel-Tec 380 handgun was stolen between 11 a.m. Friday and 1:15 p.m. Sunday from a home on Allegheny Drive home in Bradys Bend Township.
