10:13 p.m. Monday — No one was injured when a convergence of events caused a freak accident at Center Avenue and South Cliff Street.The mishap began as Patrick J. Hoyt, 28, of Butler was walking and texting on his cell phone. Hoyt tripped on a construction sign that was leaning across the sidewalk on the Center Avenue bridge.Carol L. Fair, 38, of Butler happened to be driving a car on Center Avenue when the sign flipped, hitting the car and shattering the front passenger side windshield.A police report said the bottom of the construction sign, which was improperly placed on the road, had no sandbags or other weight to keep it in place.
4:10 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Ronald M. Klaes, 60, of Slippery Rock hit a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Klaes was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.5 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Gregory E. Michalek, 44, of New Castle went off the road and spun into another car on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Michalek was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Margaret A. Miller, 59, of Pittsburgh was driving the other car.Friday — Nathan Osborne Hines, 25, is accused of selling heroin stemming from an alleged controlled drug buy on May 12 at his home on Miller Road in Slippery Rock Township.Police in court documents said Hines sold four stamps bags of suspected heroin to a confidential informant. He is charged with felony drug possession.3:27 p.m. Sept. 29 — Cars driven by Vera M. Edinboro, 76, of West Sunbury and Doreen A. Doerr, 51, of Butler collided at Hall and Beaver Dam roads in Clay Township. Edinboro faces a ticket for a stop sign violation.Sept. 19 — An unknown thief between noon and 2:30 p.m. broke into numerous storage facilities and stole tools and other unspecified items at Lake Arthur Self Storage in Franklin Township.7:31 a.m. Sept. 17 — A car driven by Dylan J. Wolfe, 19, of Prospect crashed and overturned on Route 528 near McIntire Lane in Franklin Township. Wolfe was cited for a lane violation.
