Bishop 50th anniversary
Millard "Jake" and Phyllis Bishop of Cranberry Township celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner at Wright's Seafood Restaurant. The festivities were given by their son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Linda Bishop. After the celebration, the couple went on a two-week Mediterranean cruise.
Bishop married the former Phyllis Boyce on Sept. 26, 1959, at Thoburn Memorial Methodist Church in Saint Clairsville, Ohio.
They have one child, Brent Bishop of Fombell. Another child, Mark Bishop, is deceased.
They also have three grandchildren.
Mr. Bishop retired in 1993 from US Airways' maintenance and engineering department. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge 729 of Mars and the Scottish Rite Consistory of Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the Cranberry Elks Lodge 2249.
Mrs. Bishop worked in the sales department of Mine Safety Appliances in Cranberry Township until 1993, when she left to enjoy early retirement with her husband.
The Bishops enjoy traveling and golfing, along with fishing in Florida.
