Jessica Cosme of Butler is working in the Office of the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as part of a 15-week internship sponsored by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.Cosme is a senior political science major and Russian and women's studies minor at Slippery Rock University.She is one of 15 students participating in The Harrisburg Internship Semester program, which provides students the opportunity to work in all areas of state government while earning a full semester's worth of credits.She will attend several academic seminars during the fall internship and will complete an individualized research project.A 2006 graduate of Butler High School, she is the daughter of Donna and Jose Cosme.–––––
Jessica Kennedy of Butler has received one of 78 Phi Mu Foundation Scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year. She will use it to study Christian education at Westminster College.The Phi Mu Foundation provides educational, leadership and citizenship grants to collegiate and alumnae members of Phi Mu Fraternity, a national Panhellenic conference fraternity for women.–––––
<B>Mike Keefe</B> of Cranberry Township received the 2009 Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge No. 931 scholarship.Keefe, a criminology major at Indiana (Pa.) University, is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He served as risk management officer for the fraternity.The scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student in good academic standing at Indiana (Pa.) University who has successfully completed 24 credit hours and is a relative of an Elks Lodge No. 931 member or ladies auxiliary member.–––––<B>Maxwell McCurdy </B>of Butler has been cast in the Baldwin-Wallace College production of "The Memo."A 2008 graduate of Butler High School, he is the son of Mary and Zane McCurdy of Butler.–––––<B>Molly Stenner</B> of Mars was recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization. Stenner is a student at the University of Alabama. A 2008 graduate of Mars High School, she is the daughter of Tim and Vicki Stenner of Mars.
