Mabel Chronister
Mabel Virginia Bauder Chronister, 83, of Portersville slipped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday at UPMC Passavant/Cranberry Township as her family comforted her by her side.
Born Jan. 12, 1926, in Portersville, she was the daughter of Edwin N. and Bertha Mabel (Elder) Bauder.
She was a lifelong member of the Portersville Presbyterian Church, where years ago she was a Sunday school teacher. She loved the Lord and was kind, loving, and had a servant's heart. She was a volunteer at Keenagers, a senior citizen group in Portersville.
She was completely devoted to her family and was an exceptionally loving person. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She had a love for animals and for being outside.
She is survived by her husband, H. Wendell Chronister, whom she married Aug. 9, 1946; two sons, Cal (Jane) Chronister of Portage, Ind., and Randy (Patty) Chronister of Slippery Rock; and a daughter; Ginny Lu (Jim) McElhatten of Shermans Dale. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Robertson, Stacy (Andy) Vecellio, Dale (Stacy Randall) Chronister, Dan (Natalie) Chronister, and Brian (Tracy) McElhatten; great-grandchildren, Micah and Noah Vecellio, Kayla and Peyton McElhatten, a sister, Bonnie Barnhart of Portersville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
<B>CHRONISTER</B> — Family and friends of Mabel Virginia Bauder Chronister, who died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday at the Portersville Presbyterian Church. The the Rev. Dana Opp, her church pastor, will officiate. A committal service will follow near graveside at the Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be donated to the Keenagers, c/o Joan Courtney, 1066 New Castle Road, Prospect, PA 16052.
