Vincent C. Puntureri
Vincent C. Puntureri, 80, of 202 Orchard Park Drive, New Castle, passed away peacefully Thursday in his home.
He was born in Grove City, Nov. 15, 1928, to the late Joe and Eva Gallo Puntureri.
After graduating from Grove City High School, Vince enlisted in the Navy.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Grove City College in 1956.
He was a devoted, loving husband and father.
He met his wife, Jacqueline Trevellini, while attending college. They spent many Saturday nights on the dance floor and married Aug. 25, 1956. Vince and Jacki were a committed couple who truly enjoyed each other's company. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last year.
His happiest moments were spent with his family, enjoying home-cooked meals, celebrating birthdays, watching games, going on vacations and joining in holiday traditions. He is loved and remembered for his dedication to his family, kindness and integrity. He was the kind of man whose natural instinct always was to do the right thing.
Vince was a valued, hard-working employee throughout his working life. His career as a chemical engineer spanned about 40 years. He was an engineer for Allied Chemical in Lock Haven and at Witco in Petrolia. He retired as vice president of operations/production for Interstate Chemical in West Middlesex.
He was active and engaged in a range of hobbies and activities for years. Vince enjoyed golfing and bowling with his buddies and his family. He was an avid bridge player, most recently paired with his son on Wednesday nights at Eat'n Park. He also was a longtime Notre Dame and Steelers football fan. He liked to work on Sudoku and counted on his wife to complete his crossword puzzles.
He was a member of St. Camillus Church, the Sons of Italy and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, Jacki, Vince is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Therese Cini Puntureri of Wampum; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Steve Govora of Latrobe; and his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Richardson of New Castle. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Matt, Nathan, Tyler and Michael Puntureri, Steve and Gina Govora and Brad, Tara and Jenna Richardson; and a great grandchild, Kylee Puntureri.
He also is survived by three brothers and sister-in-laws, Sam and Judy Puntureri, Al and Judy Puntureri and Rock and Louise Puntureri; and two sisters, Stella Stanzione and Genevieve Perry.
<B>PUNTURERI</B> — Calling hours celebrating the life of Vincent C. Puntureri, who died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Cremator</B>, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial blessing service celebrating Vince's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev.
