HARRISBURG — A second preliminary hearing is being held in Harrisburg for a former high-ranking leader in the state House of Representatives and one of his aides.

At today's hearing, former Representative Mike Veon and Annamarie Perretta-Rosepink face corruption charges involving a nonprofit agency in Beaver County that Veon controlled. Both are charged with theft, misapplication of entrusted property, conflicts of interest and conspiracy.

Their first hearing in May ended when the judge tossed out the case on grounds that state prosecutors lacked the evidence to support the charges. Friday's hearing is before a different district judge.

Veon and Perretta-Rosepink also are among a dozen people connected to the House Democrats who were charged last summer with illegally using taxpayer money and state employees for political activity.
