Monday — Police filed drugged driving charges against Karoline Elinore-Loise Moore, 29, of Butler, stemming from an incident July 31 at a child care facility on West New Castle Street.Police were called to the facility after Moore showed up there in a vehicle to pick up her two children. Day care officials suspected the defendant was intoxicated.Police said Moore appeared to have trouble standing and her speech was slurred. A portable breath test showed no sign of alcohol, but she failed three field sobriety tests, a police affidavit said.She was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Police on Friday got the results of that test. Court documents said Moore had traces of the narcotic painkiller oxymorphone in her system.She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.10:06 p.m. Sunday — Richard Alexander Hartwell, 24, of Butler was arrested for DUI on the Gen. Butler Bridge. Police also cited Hartwell for driving on the wrong side of the road.3:46 a.m. Saturday — Douglas Keith Schnur, 42, of Butler was arrested for DUI on West Penn Street. Police also cited Schnur for driving on the wrong side of the road and not using turn signals.10:46 p.m. Friday — Emma Sue Scott, 36, of Butler was arrested for DUI on South Monroe Street. Police also cited her for driving with a suspended license.A passenger, Robert E. Turner, 40, of Butler, police said, was arrested on a warrant and placed in the Butler County Prison.Before his arrest, according to a police report, Turner gave officers a bogus name, and is also charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities. Additionally, he is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Monday — Two bicycles were reported stolen overnight from a Semanco Avenue home. One bike is a black, Orange County Chopper model; the other one is a light purple, girl's mountain bike. Both bicycles have rusted handle bars.4 p.m. Sunday — Bryan Griffith, 27, of Butler was cited for trespassing after he was spotted at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. He is prohibited from entering the store.Police said they also learned Griffith was wanted on a warrant. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant.4:17 p.m. Saturday — Brook Donelson, 24, and Adam Kobert, 24, both of Butler, were cited for trespassing after they were found in the Wal-Mart store in Butler Commons. The suspects previously were barred from the store for shoplifting.2:59 a.m. Saturday — Jennifer Bishop-Cumberland, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after she was stopped going the wrong way on Route 422. Police also cited her for a lane violation and careless driving.5:11 p.m. Friday — A suspected hit-and-run driver faces several charges stemming from a two-vehicle cash on Route 8 at the Co-Gos store.Police said the suspect, John Best, 20, of Chicora pulled out of the store in a sport utility vehicle and hit the side of another SUV that 28-year-old Jamie Knauff of Butler was driving.Best, according to a police report, drove away. State police found the suspect in Chicora. The SUV he was driving also was recovered at a nearby abandoned trailer. The owner of that SUV told police Best did not have permission to drive the vehicle.Best is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving with a suspended license and without insurance, and other traffic violations.
Aug. 12 — A Magellan global positioning system unit was stolen overnight from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Tidball Avenue.
6:45 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Alisha M. Hovis, 27, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Michelle D. Matthews, 29, both of Butler, collided on Route 8 near Staff Road in Brady Township. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Police said Hovis faces tickets for making an improper left turn and not wearing a seat belt.Monday — Troopers filed a pair of drug cases against a Butler man, accused of selling 0.3 grams of crack cocaine to a police informant at his Ridge Avenue home in May.Police on Friday served a search warrant at Salmon's home, where they found suspected crack, three electronic digital scales and materials to package drugs, according to court documents.Salmon is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Sunday — An unknown burglar tried to pry open the front door trim before cutting a living room screen window to break into a woman's Elm Street home in Slippery Rock.Police said the burglar moved items around the house and opened the woman's bedroom, but did not take anything before leaving. The burglary happened between 1 and 7 a.m.12:02 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Nicole C. Campbell, 19, of Bethel Park, Allegheny County, flipped down an embankment after sliding off rain-soaked Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township.Wednesday — Georgette Rose Fleeger, 38, of West Sunbury was arrested on charges that she stole six checks owned by a Butler man Aug. 8, and later forged and cashed the checks for nearly $400.Fleeger was arraigned on six counts of forgery, as well as theft, receiving stolen property and theft. Following arraignment, she was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
