Saturday — Matthew Paul Slater, 25, of Butler is accused of taking his mother's iPod and $30 from their Wallula Avenue home. Slater admitted taking the money, a police report said, but he denied stealing the iPod. Police charged him with theft.Saturday — Someone overnight stole the Pennsylvania license plate GJK9139 from a vehicle at a Pillow Street home.
12:48 p.m. Saturday — Police said Patrick Hoyt, 28, of Tucson, Ariz., sparked a chain-reaction crash on New Castle Road near Barracks Road. The wreck began when Hoyt's car rear-ended another car driven by Christopher Boltz, 29, of Cabot.That collision, police said, forced Boltz's vehicle into the back of a car driven by Jeffrey Sneddon, 28, of Butler. Jamie Feagin, 22, of Butler, a passenger in Hoyt's car, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor facial injuries.9:35 p.m. Friday — Someone overnight sprayed red paint on several vehicles on Silver Drive. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
9:18 p.m. Sunday — Police arrested a 16-year-old boy after they caught him with suspected marijuana and drug contraband on Elm Street near West Poplar Street. The boy, who police did not identify, is charged with possession of marijuana and six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.Sunday — An Xbox and several games were reportedly stolen in a burglary between 7:30 and 8:50 p.m. at a Gilmore Avenue apartment. The stolen property is valued at $450.1:55 a.m. Wednesday — A 17-year-old boy, who police did not identify, was cited for underage drinking following a police chase in which the youth was a passenger in the fleeing vehicle.Police said that after the vehicle was stopped, the suspect admitted to drinking, but refused to say where he had consumed the alcohol. Other charges are pending in the case, police said.Wednesday — An unknown thief stole a two-piece water fountain from Agway's parking lot area on Breckenridge Street. The fountain, which is valued at $280, was taken between 11 a.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. Monday.
Friday — Five people were arrested for drunken driving during a roving DUI night patrol. Officers stopped 65 vehicles during the detail and also issued 19 citations and 40 warnings for traffic violations.
6:15 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Richard C. Jamison Jr., 25, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by Timothy R. Ross, 56, of Cabot collided on Bonniebrook Road near Route 356 in Jefferson Township. Police said Jamison was cited for careless driving.Monday — A green, 2000 Polaris Magnum all-terrain vehicle was stolen from a garage in a burglary at a Stargrille Road home in Winfield Township. The theft happened between 5:15 p.m. Sunday and 6:16 a.m. Monday.2:19 a.m. Sunday — Raymond Cox, 26, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 356 in Summit Township, near the Butler Township line.12:19 a.m. Sunday — Dwaine M. Hans, 32, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Bonniebrook Road and Route 422 in Summit Township.1:59 a.m. Saturday — Ronald Donaldson, 65, of East Brady, Clarion County, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 68 in Fairview Township near the Butler-Armstrong County line.Saturday — Four people were arrested for drunken driving and 684 vehicles stopped during a DUI checkpoint Saturday night.Additionally, troopers issued seven traffic tickets and 43 warnings. One person was arrested on a bench warrant.
Saturday — Someone stole undisclosed items from two vehicles parked in driveways at homes on Rider Road in Madison Township. The thefts occurred between 2 and 7:30 a.m.
10:53 p.m. Aug. 16 — A car driven by a 16-year-old Slippery Rock girl crashed into a ditch and rolled over twice along Tower Road in Springfield Township. The car ended on its roof in a grassy area. The driver told police she swerved her car to avoid an unidentified black vehicle that had crossed into her lane.A 17-year-old Volant girl riding in the car gave police the same account.3:54 a.m. Aug. 16 — Maggie Jean Thompson, 25, of Mercer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 208 in Springfield Township.2:30 a.m. Aug. 16 — An apparent homemade chemical explosive device was used to vandalize a Grove City woman's car on Woodside Drive in Pine Township.5:45 p.m. Aug. 15 — Two people were hurt when cars driven by Scott P. Stein, 19, and Brandon J. Barr, 33, both of Grove City collided on Route 258 in Liberty Township. Barr's car hit and sheared off a utility pole after the collision.Barr and a passenger, a 3-year-old girl, were taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate and minor injuries, respectively.Aug. 14 — An undisclosed amount of prescription pills were stolen in a burglary at a Brent Road home in Liberty Township.Aug. 13 — Two boys, who police did not identify, are accused of stealing $100 in DVDs and video games from the Wal-Mart in Pine Township. The suspects are charged with retail theft.3:55 p.m. Aug. 10 — A vehicle driven by John R. Vogt, 83, of Grove City crashed into a ditch on Route 173 in Sandy Lake Township. Vogt and a passenger, Maybelle Vogt, 80, of Grove City, were treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries.Police said John Vogt was cited for a lane violation.6 a.m. Aug. 8 — Wesley W. Barber, 37, of Sandy Lake was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving hit a ditch and crashed on Cole Road in Sandy Lake Township. Barber, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, with moderate injuries.Police said Barber was cited for driving at an unsafe speed and other unspecified traffic violations.Aug. 7 — Someone stole several undisclosed items after breaking into a Butler man's trailer and garage on Creek Road near Route 19 in Springfield Township. The burglary occurred between June 1 and Aug. 7.Aug. 7 — A cell phone valued at $499 was stolen from a Slippery Rock man's vehicle on Airport Road in Pine Township.
9:35 a.m. Monday — One person was hurt with a triaxle crane truck and bus collided at Route 422 and Church Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Anthony C. Kaczmarek, 32, of Pittsburgh, who was driving the bus, owned by the U.S. National Guard in Coraopolis, Allegheny County, suffered moderate injuries in the collision.Police said Kaczmarek was unable to stop in time after the truck driver, Ralph W. Johnson, 43, of Masury, Ohio, changed from one of the westbound lanes to the other.
