Tuesday — Police said Anthony Eugene King, 41, of Karns City was charged with bad checks for allegedly bouncing a $701 check that was passed April 28 to Sehman's Tire Service in Butler. The check was written on an account that had insufficient funds, police said.

8:45 p.m. Friday — A brown "Haro" brand BMX freestyle bicycle was stolen from the Tower Presbyterian Church parking lot. The bicycle is valued at $500. Anyone with information about the stolen bike is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

Thursday — Officers filed drug trafficking charges against Krystle Gregg, 27, of Butler, stemming from a July 7 controlled drug buy in Butler. Gregg allegedly sold five stamp bags of heroin for $100 to an undercover police officer.She was arraigned on charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

Monday — A vandal or vandals caused about $300 in damage at the Bruin Elementary School in Bruin. A stairwell window was broken and words were carved into a picnic table. The vandalism occurred between Saturday and Monday.Aug. 2 — An unknown thief stole an orange Yamaha golf cart from a home on 10th Street in East Butter. The cart, valued at $1,500, has "mag wheels" and a Harley-Davidson emblem on the front.
